Video Ads about school violence:

Rhetorical Situation

On campus, many students may be unaware that some of their actions and comments may hurt other students. Too much inappropriate behavior or speech can become a habit until it becomes a serious problem with school bullying. This commercial is a comparison of school bullying and the changes that occur when school bullying is corrected. As you can see in the video, students who experience bullying change their personality and become timid and weak, also they are very careful about what they do and don’t dare to say the wrong thing. After the students correct their school bullying behavior, the victims’ moods become happier. Even if they say the wrong thing in class, they don’t feel ashamed. More importantly, they are no longer alone. All of these changes can lead to a reduction in the incidence of depression in victims of violence. In addition, this video shows that bystanders should not just stand by, they should help those who need it. It encourages more people to stop school bullying.

Genre

I used the genre of a video advertisement to show the dangers of bullying. Advertisements can better promote the negative effects of school bullying. A rhetorical strategy of pathos is used to show how the victim is experiencing the bullying. Also, effective measures to prevent bullying can be better promoted through advertisements. In addition, the contrast between the unhelpful and helpful victims of bullying showed a change in the reactions, expressions, and personalities of the bullies. It also allows for a better observation of how important a role bystander play in school violence. We can see these videos on our cell phones, computers, or TV. Social networking is not only convenient, but it is also more visible, which in turn brings more people’s attention to cases related to school bullying.

Audience

For this video advertisement, my intended audience is students in school. Students are the main group of people who suffer the most from school bullying. Through this video advertisement, I want to convey how students can get along with each other in a friendly way. Secondly, how to stop bullying when students encounter it, and how the help of others can reduce bullying. The last thing is to tell more victims not to be afraid after experiencing school bullying and to face the person they are afraid of. Furthermore, seeking help in case of violence, teachers and staff at school can help victims to avoid violence.

Purpose

The purpose of using the video advertising genre is to tell more students about the seriousness of violence in school and to remind students, through two contrasts, that they need to think about themselves whether or not they have unconsciously said or done something to hurt another person. Unintentional violence is also an act of violence. If you have hurt someone, you should apologize and explain why you did it. If you have not done anything to hurt others, you should also observe if it is happening at school or around us. If there are cases of bullying around us, then we should against this bullying. Making students feel more positive energy is the most effective way to stop school bullying.

Rhetorical Situation

Stopping school bullying requires action by parents and all educators. Although the main target of school bullying is students, parents are the “role models” for students to emulate, and many students become violent when they see their parents arguing and fighting at home. Therefore, in order to prevent more imitation of bad behavior, parents need to be more aware of their own behavior at home. In addition, many school educators do not address the problem of bullying in schools. Many teachers thought that students have only minor conflicts, so they do not care about student behavior. However, teachers should educate their students about school bullying and protective measures. This way, students will know how to protect themselves when they experience school bullying. In the poster, “TAKE ACTION NOW” is to tell more teachers and parents that we should take action to manage and educate our students to reduce school bullying.

Genre

I used the poster genre to explain my theme, and rather than some serious posters, I was looking for posters where people could see the poster and learn something about school bullying. I used a poster style that was warning but not serious. “Stop bullying” is the main idea in the poster. In addition, I used a rhetorical strategy of logos to illustrate the negative effects of school violence and behavior. This is a way to get parents to pay attention to the education and protection of their children. At the same time, it is more logical. These posters can be put up in various parts of the community or on school display boards, stairways (with the school’s permission) to draw attention to social and campus issues.

Audience

In the poster on school bullying, my intended audience was educators, as well as parents. Educators and parents are the “keys” that can save students from going astray and give them better protection and help. In fact, a large part of bullying in schools is due to family education philosophy. Therefore, to reduce bullying, it is important not only to reduce domestic violence, but also to focus on children’s education and behavior, which is something parents need to do. Also , there is for educators to strictly manage the education system to reduce bullying in schools.

Purpose

I want the audience to know more about the dangers of school bullying and the impact of school bullying on society. Warn more students to stay away from school bullying and remind students that serious bullying may lead to criminal behavior to reduce the occurrence of school bullying. Also, communicate to educators and parents the reality of bullying cases, observe changes in their children more closely, improve their own educational attitudes, and learn solutions to prevent school bullying.
